EEG / Sleep Stages / Arousals

Sleep stages

Wake, N1, N2, N3 and REM identified from EEG, EOG and chin EMG.

Educational reference, not a diagnostic tool. A scored event, an elevated index and a clinical diagnosis are different things. Follow your facility’s scoring manual, notification policies and clinical protocols.

  • Wake: posterior alpha with eyes closed.
  • N2: spindles and K-complexes.
  • N3: high-amplitude slow waves.
  • REM: rapid eye movements, low chin tone.
