Respiratory

Apneas: obstructive, central, mixed

Apneas are a near-complete drop in airflow. Effort channels tell the type apart.

Educational reference, not a diagnostic tool. A scored event, an elevated index and a clinical diagnosis are different things. Follow your facility’s scoring manual, notification policies and clinical protocols.

  • Obstructive: airflow absent while chest/abdomen effort continues.
  • Central: airflow and effort both absent.
  • Mixed: begins without effort, ends with effort returning.
  • Confirm against your lab's scoring manual version.
